25.06.21:

Round 2

Last day for me on Beroun Golf Club, is now over, and I played an ok round of 73 (+1). With the scores 74, 73 (+3 in total) I missed the cut by three shots. There were really great shots, where I showed that I can play awesome golf, but there were also not so good shots that I will learn from and improve till next time.

Looking at some positives, I am very pleased with how I am hitting my putter after I got the heavier weights in, and the longer wedges shots are spot on. That is something I have been working on, so I am happy that they now are where I want the rest of my game to get eventually! Knud, my driver and I are going to spend som quality time together the next couple of days, to find a swing I feel comfortable with and that shapes the ball the way I want. We have a “little time” now before the next event in the Netherlands 30. June – 3. July.

A fun fact is that I had two wedges from around 90 meters that landed within 20cm from the hole on round one. The first one was on my first hole that resulted in a tap in birdie, while the second was on my ninth hole, hit the bottom of the flagg and kicked 10 meters straight backwards that ended up with a two put for par.

Round 1

A long day on the course! Day one began with two tee time delays moving my tee time from the original 8:29 to 10:44. My group were able to play sixteen holes before the sky darkened once again and we heard the thunder rumbled right above us. We were allowed back out after yet another wait and finished the round around a quarter to five.

Some days start of better than others, and it is at the end of the day a golfer’s job to handle the unexpected as well as the expected as well as possible, turn lemons into lemonade, and deliver a good score.

My tee shots were not the best today which resulted in a few bogeys, but with a little comeback from a few birdies I gave myself a fighting chance. I felt hot with the putter all day, which helped me a lot, but it unfortunately turned ice cold while we were waiting for the lightning and thunder to pass. I came out on my 17th hole and three putted. A drive misplaced in the hazard on the last, resulting in a bogey, and my attempt at a solid score evaporated on the last two holes.

Do not get me wrong. I shot 74 (+2) which is ok, but this course, under these wet conditions gave us plenty of opportunities to make both birdies and eagles. I might be writing with a little bit of a sour undertone as I feel, like I have felt for the last couple of events, that the score should be a whole lot lower. You know what though, I will not give up. It will come, I am sure of it. Thumbs up, and I am really looking forward to playing the course again tomorrow. I will have to play well as the cut at the moment (20:30) is at -1.

This weekend 25th-27th June, I will be playing the Tipsport Czech Ladies Open. The tournament is played in Beroun, just outside of Prague. Knud and I played the same event last year at the same course, so it will be good to finally see something familiar. The course is beautiful with steep climbs on some holes, making this course more physically challenging than what we normally play.

The field is comprised of 132 players and there will be a cut after two rounds for the top 60 professionals plus tied.
