27.04.21:

New week, new tournament! We will be playing out at Soweto Golf Course in the vast urban township. Because of the area around the golf course we have been told to live 30-40 minutes away from the course. The four police cars surrounding the gates of the course on our practice round does make me feel a little more safe, for some reason. I can admit that this must be the roughest neighborhoods I have ever experienced.

It is surreal to be on the course few meters away from the townships only separated with a barbed wire fence. It is impossible to not feel for the children on the other side of the fence asking for money and food while we are on the side where the grass is literally greener. After getting to know Lucky, my local caddie from last week, at the last tournament I really do feel for the enormous amounts of people struggling to survive from week to week and day to day, but I cannot help them all…

With the warm air, the burnt grass and a location 1753 meter above sea level the balls really fly here! It is a good feeling hitting drives that never seems to land. I am looking forward to playing tomorrow, and I hope to continue the good game from last week. My first tee time tomorrow is at 8:00 local time. Follow the leaderboard on the link below:
